MOSCOW — It’s not a joke. According to the KHL website, Vyacheslav Fetisov will play for CSKA Moscow in a regular season game in the Kontinental Hockey League on Friday. One of the most outstanding players in the history of hockey is 51. CSKA Moscow head coach, Sergei Nemchinov, said he expects Fetisov to play against SKA St. Petersburg in a regular season KHL game on Friday. If Fetisov really plays, it will be 35 years after he debuted with CSKA Moscow in 1974-75, at the age of 17

Two months before the opening of the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Canadian security officials said Wednesday they are on pace to deploy about 15,000 police, private security and military personnel as part of an extensive security effort expected to cost nearly $1 billion.

The 2010 Olympics will pump $800 million in travel-related spending to the Metro Vancouver economy next year, helping the regional economy grow by 3.9 per cent after shrinking by 2.1 per cent this year, according to a Central 1 Credit Union forecast. The forecast said the impact would have been closer to $1 billion if the global recession hadn’t taken place, reducing the number of Games visitors and the spending plans of those who do come.
